While shoelaces are typically an overlooked accessory, switching shoelaces can give your shoes an entirely different look and make your existing shoe options expand without spending money on more shoes.

When you realize that a single pair of shoelaces can turn one pair of shoes into two pairs of shoes, custom shoelaces aren't just affordable, they're actually a savvy purchase for any fashionista on a budget.

Plastic: Plastic tips are available in Light Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Clear, White, Light Brown, Gray, Black and Rainbow (Rainbow tips are Purple, Blue, Light Red and Yellow on a single pair of laces). Plastic Tips are form-fitting, so they adhere to the natural shape of the lacing fabric and serve to narrow the ends for easier lacing and to protect the ends from fraying.

Due to the bulk of the fabric, laces such as Wide Grosgrain and Wide Satin have wider tips when finished with plastic, so don't expect them to fit through any teeny tiny eyelets (see the Trim and Seal tip option for those narrower eyelets with Wide Grosgrain and Wide Satin).

Trim and Seal: The Trim and Seal option is only available for solid Satin, Grosgrain and Velvet laces. The fine point on the slanted trimmed end allows them to be laced through the smallest of eyelets when other tips are too wide. Trim and Seal laces are all heat-sealed to resist fraying.

Crimps: These are a lovely touch for any lacing fabric. At 3.5mm in diameter, they are meant for standard wider eyelets (they are perfect for Converse sneakers, for example). Some women's shoes use really narrow eyelets, so take a look at the size of those eyelets before adding the crimp tips.

Long Dangles: Long Dangle tips use a narrow metal crimp with a free-hanging paddle charm that is approximately 1" long. They are great for dressy laces or for laces you want to double as hair ribbons or tie-on jewelry (e.g. chokers, anklets, bracelets and barefoot sandals).

Due to the bulk of the fabric, laces such as Velvet have wider tips when finished with long dangles, so don't expect them to fit through any teeny tiny eyelets (see the Trim and Seal tip option for those narrower eyelets with Velvet).

*Long Dangles are not recommended for small children for whom they may pose a choking hazard.

Short Dangles: If the Long Dangles are too long for you, the Short Dangle tips use the same narrow metal crimps with a free-hanging teardrop charm that is only a few millimeters long. They too are great for dressy laces or for laces you want to double as hair ribbons or tie-on jewelry (e.g. chokers, anklets, bracelets and barefoot sandals).

Due to the bulk of the fabric, laces such as Velvet have wider tips when finished with short dangles, so don't expect them to fit through any teeny tiny eyelets (see the Trim and Seal tip option for those narrower eyelets with Velvet).

Length Information
The easiest way to get the right length is to measure the length of your current shoelaces. If your shoes don't currently have laces (e.g. vintage shoes, etc.), work with a piece of yarn or string to determine the best length.

If you're replacing relatively narrow shoelaces with something wide (say some 1.5" organza laces), don't forget that it takes a little extra length to make a bow in wider ribbons since there is extra bulk to wrap around and pull through.

While we strongly recommend getting an accurate measurement before ordering, an approximate rule of thumb for the length on criss-cross lacing sneakers is:

2-3 eyelet rows = 25"
4 eyelet rows = 36"
5 eyelet rows = 45"
6 eyelet rows = 54"
7 eyelet rows = 63"
8-9 eyelet rows=72"
